Level 3 Award in Older and Traditional Buildings Exam

This article covers what you need to know before you attend your exam.

In order to pass the course you need to complete the following: 

  • You need to pass your exam
  • Complete all your assignments

Ahead of your exam

You will receive an email from EdExams up to 5 working days before your exam. If you have not received this two working days before your exam, please contact us. 


Ensure you have downloaded the exam software and performed the required system checks as soon as you receive your link from The Retrofit Academy and in advance of your exam date. If there are any issues, please contact us as soon as possible. 


IMPORTANT!

Please note that the exam you are sitting is for an OFQUAL regulated qualification and as such is a formal, remotely invigilated exam (this is called proctoring). The guidance below must be followed to ensure your exam as classed as a valid attempt and not voided.


On the day of your exam 

You will be able to access your exam 30 minutes before your scheduled start time, and up to 15 minutes after your start time. If you do not log in within this time, access will not be granted. 


You will need to ensure the following: 

  1. You have the correct ID ready. You will need photographic ID, such as a Passport or Driving Licence. 
  2. Your working space is clear and tidy. Make sure you remove any electrical devices (e.g mobile phones, laptops, smart watches and interactive devices such as Alexa). Make sure there are no notebooks in the room and remove any posters from the walls.  This is including but not limited to:
    • Mobile phones, tablets, iPads, etc., are NOT permitted in the exam room.
    • iPods, MP3/4 players, etc., are NOT permitted in the exam room.
    • Headphones, Earphones, Airpods, etc., are NOT permitted in the exam room.
    • Watches, etc., are NOT permitted in the exam room.
  3. The room you are taking your exam in is quiet. Noises such as music or television are not permitted.

  4. You will be required to show a 360-degree video of your room before starting the exam to show:

    1. All walls

    2. All desk surfaces

    3. All floor area

During your exam

The exam is sat in the examination conditions:

  1. Your face must be visible at ALL times.
  2. ALL work must be your own.
  3. You must not talk or read out the exam questions.
  4. You must not communicate with anyone during the exam except with the invigilator via the “Q Chat” button available on every slide.
  5. No handwritten notes are allowed during the exam.


There are also certain items that are prohibited.


You must follow this guidance to avoid your exam being classed as invalid. An invalid exam, even if you pass, will mean that you will not receive your certificate and will have to resit the test or in some circumstances be removed from the course.
